The Office of Residence Life, in collaboration with the Housing and Food Insecurity Taskforce (HFI), has established Emergency Housing suites in the Wabash Building. As housing and food insecurity increasingly impact student well-being, this initiative provides critical short-term support to help students remain safe and stable during times of crisis. Students seeking Emergency Housing must be enrolled for the semester in which they are requesting assistance and should contact the Office of Residence Life. Emergency Housing stays are limited to a maximum of five business days.

How to utilize emergency housing services:

Students experiencing housing or home insecurity that are interested in staying in Emergency Housing, should contact the Office of Residence Life, located on the 14th floor of the Wabash Building (During business hours, M-F 9-5pm), by phone at 312-341-2005, or by email at reslife@roosevelt.edu.

Things to remember:

  • Emergency Housing is a resource offered at no cost to registered RU students.
  • The maximum number of nights a student can stay in Emergency Housing is 5 business days and may be based on availability of space.
  • Anyone staying in Emergency Housing will be asked to complete an agreement to confirm an understanding of the Prohibited Items and department and University policies.
  • Linens are provided for the length of stay of the student using Emergency Housing, and cannot be removed once a stay has concluded.
  • The Emergency Housing key packet must be turned back in to the Office of Residence Life at the conclusion of the student's stay in Emergency Housing.
